10 Things I’ve Learnt in a Year of Blogging

10 things ive learnt in a year of bloggingSo I thought I would do a slightly different post today, I’ve been blogging for just over a year now and I have learnt a lot of things throughout that time and thought it would be nice to share them with you. So here are 10 things I’ve learnt in a year of blogging!

1. Twitter chats are a great way to get involved in the blogging community.
I didn’t discover twitter chats until a few months after I started my blog, they are a great way to get involved with other bloggers.

2. Leave thoughtful comments and support others.
A lot of the time you can tell when others haven’t read your blog, especially when you have said that you don’t like a product and they ‘can’t wait to try it out as it sounds amazing’. So it’s always nice when you receive thoughtful comments and it’s extra nice and lovely to leave them for others.
3. Be honest.
If you don’t like a product that you have tried don’t lie and pretend that you love it. However be constructive when you do this, for example if a skincare product has broke your skin out don’t complete slate it, explain that it isn’t suitable for your skin but others might like it.

4. Resize your photos.
Make your photos fill up the page so people can see you images more clearly, this is actually really easy to do. I use an aspect ratio calculator online to resize my photos.

5. Don’t get caught up with numbers.
Remember why you started blogging in the first place, because you enjoy it.
6. Let things grow organically.
This is definitely the best way to let your blog grow, yes tweet when you put up a new post and all of that, but don’t force your blogs on others.

7. It’s important to reply.
If someone asks you a question make sure you always reply, it doesn’t just boost engagement but is also polite and a great way to interact with those who read your blog!
8. Don’t accept PR products for the sake of it.
I only ever accept products that I genuinely think I would like or something that I would buy myself, don’t accept PR products just to receive products.

9. Be user friendly.
If people like you and your blog they might want to follow you on social media sites, make it easy for them to find these so that they can do this.

10. Be yourself.
If people can tell you are being yourself in your posts and social media, people will like you. Don’t try to copy others and find your own ‘voice’, yes this may take a while but you will find it eventually.

I loved this post! I do agree on social media being important, and I should start getting involved in those twitter chats, I always see people using the hashtag but I never take part… I don't know why haha
