After booking months in advance, the day finally arrived for me and Aaron to indulge in afternoon tea at The Ritz in London. We love going for afternoon tea together and we’ve been going more often recently as there are quite a lot we want to try out. One at the top of our list for a while was The Ritz, so at the beginning of the year we booked to go and it was such an amazing experience that I wanted to share.

It’s such a beautiful place both outside and inside, the attention to detail in the decor and even the ceilings is incredible. As we walked inside we could feel instantly that this was going to be very luxurious and a special experience. We were seated in the incredible Palm Court which was beautiful with it’s chandeliers and large floral arrangements, and was given the choice to either sit opposite or next to each other which was a lovely touch.

A little fun fact for you, The Ritz is the only hotel in the UK to have a certified Tea Sommelier, Giandomenico Scanu, who travels around the world to various tea plantations to source our wonderful teas. I chose the Rooibos Red Tea which is rich in antioxidants, vitamin C and mineral salts, whilst Aaron chose LapSang Souchong which is a black tea from Fujan China, tranditionally smoked over pine fires. After choosing our loose leaf teas of choice our afternoon tea was brought over with the sandwiches and patisseries whilst the pianist started playing. We indulged in the delicious assortment of sandwiches with my favourites being the breast of chicken with tarragon creamed mayonnaise, and the egg mayonnaise with chopped shallots and watercress on brioche roll. These were all replenished constantly as well as the plan and raisin scones which arrived a few minutes later as they are freshly baked and served warm with Cornish clotted cream and strawberry preserve.

Everything about the experience was amazing including the venue, exquisite food and incredible service. It was £58 per person and was definitely worth it, it’s somewhere I’d recommend visiting for a luxurious afternoon tea and would love to go back in the future.

Do you love afternoon tea? If so, please let me know if you have any recommendations where we should visit next and if you would love to have Afternoon Tea at The Ritz too!
