If you didn’t know this week is Negroni Week (14th – 20th September) after it was postposed earlier in the year, so I’m celebrating with Ablefourth’s Bathtub Gin! This week isn’t just a celebration of this brilliant cocktail, it’s also an effort to raise money for wonderful charitable causes around the world.
If you’re not familiar with Negroni it’s an Italian cocktail made of one part gin, one part Campari and one part vermouth rosso garnished with a slice of orange served with ice. The bold flavours of the Bathtub Gin compliment the sweetness of vermouth and bitterness of Campari. The Negroni Cocktail Bundle is available on offer from Master of Malt and includes all the ingredients mentioned to create a perfect Negroni.
Ableforth’s Bathtub Gin is double infused with six fresh botanicals and is infused for a week, allowing those bold flavours to come through which gives the gin a unique flavour. As for the tasting notes:
Nose: Warm citrus and juniper with notes of cinnamon and orange peel.
Taste: Gentle citrus with the depth of cardamom, cloves coriander.
Finish: The supporting botanicals come into force with lingering orange peel and cardamom.
Overall it’s quite earthy and smooth which feels almost outdoorsy. As the flavours are so bold the Bathtub Gin stands out in a Negroni cocktail.
Overall the combination of these three drinks makes for a perfect Negroni cocktail which is the perfect way to celebrate Negroni Week, although I will be enjoying these in the following weeks too! As I’m writing this blog post I’m actually in the garden with a Negroni, enjoying the last bits of sunshine and heat!
