The Classic British Duffle Coat

I absolutely love British style as it’s classic, sophisticated and effortlessly chic. You can always rely on classic British designers to create beautiful pieces in timeless styles. When I was little I had a red duffle coat that I LOVED and for months I was lusting after a similar one however it was quite hard to find! You can buy duffle coats from a wide range of brands although I couldn’t ever find one that had a strong classic feel to it. Little did I know my parents were also on the hunt to find one and bought me this beautiful red duffle coat, just like the one I had when I was little from Original Montgomery. Surprisingly I had never heard of Original Montgomery before however they are the oldest British duffle coat maker and have been creating beautiful duffle coats from the early 1890’s. The fabric used is similar to the originals, however the fabric was nearly twice as heavy! Just like in the 1890’s Original Montgomery still make all their duffles in England which is quite rare these days and I love that they’re still made here. Red is one of my favourite colours however it rarely appears in my wardrobe, it’s a statement colour and I love the vibrancy this adds to my outfit especially on dull and gloomy days! This coat is exactly what I was looking for and the quality is incredible,  it’s made from wool mixed with polyester to create vibrant colours that are retained even after cleaning (nothing worse than taking a coat to the dry cleaners for the colour to fade). There’s a lot of thought put into the details on this duffle from the leather hasps and buffalo horn toggles, to the two piece hood that folds flat on the shoulder. It’s a truly luxurious British piece of clothing and I feel great when wearing it. I’ve been wearing this scarf from FCUK with this coat all the time as I feel that the colours go really well together and it’s super soft and warm. The subtly nuanced colours blend harmoniously across the scarf to create an elegant look. It’s crafted from a wool blend and makes everyday a little bit cosier. Wrapping up in a cosy scarf on a chilly day is perfect! I couldn’t not finish this classic look without a pair of brogue style boots and these are my favourite at the moment! They’re from Kurt Geiger and have beautiful embroidery on the front, they’re a gorgeous pair of boots. The quality of these is great just like all the other shoes that I own from Kurt Geiger and they’re currently go-to brand when I’m looking for new shoes! I’m in love with this duffle coat and as the style is classic I can wear it every single year, which is another reason why classic styles are to amazing as they never go out of fashion. Do you also love British designers and if so who are your favourites?
