This month I graduated from the University of Derby with a 2:1 in BSc Psychology which I am so pleased about! I actually finished University last year in May but Derby hold their graduations in January so it had been a long time coming. My boyfriend Aaron also graduated with me and I’m really proud of him too! Just so you know this is going to be a very photo heavy post so sorry if it takes age to load, I also vlogged parts of the day so you can watch that if interested.
We travelled up to Derby the day before which was a 2 hour drive and we stayed in a hotel for the night. As ours was the first ceremony we had to get up super early to get ready and I have actually filmed a ‘Get Ready With Me’ which you can watch below if you want to!
The graduation was held at the Derby Arena which is a new venue and it doesn’t actually open until March so we were some of the first people to see what it was like inside. As soon as I arrived I registered and then collected my gown before I found where I was sitting which was on the front row so I got to see everything! When it came to my course being called I was super nervous as I was worried I was going to fall over as I walked across the stage and instantly regretted wearing heels, however I didn’t fall (yay!) and it was a great experience receiving my official degree. After the ceremony had finished we took lots of photos and then made our way to the Morley Hays Hotel where we had a celebratory lunch in their restaurant. I opted for a cheese and bacon burger with sweet potato fries and it was so delicious, I wish I could eat another one right now as I’m writing this!
Overall it was an amazing day and such a great experience, definitely a memory I will treasure for the rest of my life and I’m so proud of both me and Aaron.
