I love unique pieces of fashion as I feel they are little more special, and this watch from JORD is something I have never seen before. JORD hand-craft watches made from natural wood, as a company they wanted to create timepieces that were simple and sustainable. This one is from their Ely Series ($129* around £85) and is crafted from maple which is a very light wood, there is also white and silver detailing on the face. It has a slightly smaller dial compared to their other designs which I thought would be more suited for me as my wrists are quite small. Since owning this watch I’ve had numerous compliments and questions about it, I guess it’s not every day that you see a wooden watch!
I was curious as to how the watch would feel, I thought it would be heavy however it’s extremely light which is great for the summer as who wants to wear heavy watches on their wrists when it’s warm? The clasp is stainless steel and has a Citizen Miyota Quartz Movement, it’s also crafted to a high quality. Obviously it’s not waterproof as it’s made from wood, however it is splash proof so there is no need to worry about getting it a little wet.
It arrived in a gorgeous wooden box with a sliding lid, the watch itself was wrapped around a soft cushion with a little bit of bubble wrap on top to stop it getting damaged in transit. I love the attentional to detail even down the packaging, it creates a good first impression before actually seeing the watch itself and makes it all a bit more special.
If you’re looking for a unique watch then this is sure to turn heads, it’s also an excellent conversation piece. It’s perfect for everyday wear and overall I’m impressed with both the quality and how gorgeous it looks. I was wondering if you have you ever heard of JORD before, or even seen wooden watches? It’s definitely a first for me!
