I started using Effaclar Duo months ago and have been eager to get up a review as I had a very different opinion of the product when I first started using it compared to now. La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo has been clinically proven to correct the appearance of blemishes and is suitable for sensitive skin. It claims to unclog blocked pores, refine skin texture, control the appearance of shine, and reduce the appearance of marks. I have extremely sensitive skin and am prone to blemishes so thought why not give it a go!
It’s consistency is similar to a gel and is cream coloured, it applies easily and sinks quickly into the skin. So my first day of using this product I applied a thin layer onto my face after cleansing in the evening, then went to sleep, unaware of what was about to happen the next day. It was a complete nightmare, I went from having three or four blemishes on my face, to about twenty! My skin had never been so bad in my whole life, not even through my teenage years so I thought I would do a little bit of research online. I read on other reviews that I was experiencing the ‘purging’ stage which means that all the deep rooted impurities are being brought out of my skin, however other people claimed that this was a myth. I looked in the mirror and thought that my face surely can’t get any worse than it already is, so carried on.
That evening I applied extra to my chin and it burned, I’m guessing I used too much of the product and it irritated my skin, it never happened again. Next day my skin was worse again, I literally did not want to leave the house, but I only had one more day at University until Christmas break so persevered, and I’m so glad I did!
Two weeks later my skin had completely cleared up, I couldn’t believe it! I went down to using it every other night as it started to dry my skin, I used a face oil on the nights that I didn’t use the Effaclar Duo and it kept that under control. Over two months later it’s keeping my blemishes at bay, sometimes I will use it two nights in a row if I notice a blemish appearing and it works perfectly. I’m so glad that I persevered, and to all of those that are worried about the mixed reviews of this product, the purging stage is real, I went through it!
I’d love to know if you have tried Effaclar Duo too and what you thought of it!

After so much reviews about this product. I finally tried it and it was a bad idea. I breakout so bad and it did dry my skin so much even using it every other day. I was very disappointed. x

Wow it sounds good. I always wondered if the purging thing was real haha… You know, funnily enough I never knew what the Effaclar Duo was and this is the first review I've actually read on it, it seems like it would be right up my street! I might give it a try :)
