Dining at Le Louis XV | 3 Michelin Star Restaurant in Monte Carlo

Le Louis XV Alain Ducasse à l’Hôtel de Paris is a three Michelin star restaurant located in the heart of Monte Carlo, Monaco. Myself and my husband both love dining at Michelin star restaurants as we are huge food lovers, we were blown away by the whole experience at Le Louis XV the first time that we couldn’t resist returning for the second time within 2 years! Our first visit was a couple of days after our wedding day, then again last month, so I wanted to share this incredible experience.

Le Louis XV was opened in 1987 by chef Alain Ducasse who is now one of the world’s top chefs. The restaurant is inside the famous Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, right in the main square next to the well-known casino and is named after King Louis XV, a French ruler during a time of great culinary achievements.

It’s renowned for its French cuisine, which is characterised by its elegance, sophistication, and attention to detail. The restaurant uses only the freshest ingredients, with a particular emphasis on local and seasonal produce. The menu is designed to showcase the very best of French cuisine, with dishes ranging from classic favourites to more modern and inventive creations. It’s particularly famous for its seafood, which is sourced from the nearby Mediterranean Sea.

The ambiance at Le Louis XV is really something special. As soon as you step inside you feel like you’ve left the heat and hustle of Monte Carlo behind and entered a peaceful, calming oasis. The interior is grand and luxurious, with beautiful crystal chandeliers and intricate art details all over the room. There’s also a lovely terrace where you can choose to dine either inside or outside when you make your reservation, we personally love to sit inside as it’s quiet and cool.

We chose the ‘Riviera Lunch’’ in which we chose a starter, main course, and dessert from the a la carte menu. However, there were many additional courses and we had around 8 courses in total with tea, coffee, and chocolates to finish. It’s 230 euros per person for the menu, then 70 euros each for two glasses of wine, mineral water, and hot drinks.

The restaurant also boasts one of the most extensive wine lists in the world, with over 400,000 bottles housed in the restaurant’s wine cellar. We opted for champagne to start, followed by wine pairings to compliment the dishes.

Le Louis XV is known for its luxury, elegance, and exquisite French cuisine. With three Michelin stars, the food, service, and ambiance are all outstanding. If you’re planning a trip to Monaco, dining here should be on your list if you’re into your food like we are! Whether you’re celebrating something special or just want to treat yourself to an extraordinary meal, you’ll be blown away by what this place has to offer. We loved it so much that we’ve already booked a table at The Dorchester in London, which is another three-Michelin-starred restaurant owned by the same chef, Alain Ducasse.
