MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation NW15 – Review

I have wanted the MAC studio fix fluid foundation now for a long time, I tried a sample of it in NW13 a while ago and even though it was too light for me, I loved it (NW15 was a much better match). First I’ll just quickly explain my skin type as this might not be suitable for everyone, I have oily/combination skin and am prone to the odd breakout. So moving on, the shade I chose was NW15 which was a good match for me, for those that do not know, NW shades have a neutral pink undertone, while NC shades have a neutral yellow undertone.

It comes in a glass bottle with a screw top lid, unfortunately the pump does not come included which was disappointing, the foundation pump is £4 from MAC Cosmetics. I would recommend it as I found it so much easier and one pump is exactly the right amount I need to cover my whole face. It’s a medium coverage foundation, but is easily buildable if you want even more coverage. It goes on really smoothly and has a matte finish, however it is not as blendable as I have hoped it would be, you can’t really apply it in a rush as it takes a while to blend. I know some people have found it drying on the skin, I did not find it drying so maybe it is not suitable to people with dry skin.

Here’s what it looks like with the flash both on and off, the first photo of the swatch with the flash on is more of a true representation of the shade. Overall, I am totally in love with this foundation and would definitely recommend it if you have oily or combination skin and want a medium coverage. It’s a little pricey with the £21.50 price tag, but it’s going to last ages and a flawless base is the most important part of my makeup routine.

You can purchase this both in-store and online at MAC Cosmetics, Debenhams and Selfridges.

I used to use MAC Mineralize Foundation but i've noticed they have never made a shade light enough for my pale skin! Maybe if they come out with some very light shades i will go back to using their foundations but for now i love my NARS Matte. MAC does give a flawless look though which a lot of other foundations aren't that great at doing.

I've really been wanting to try a MAC foundation! I've only heard wonderful things about it. I have the same skin type as you, so it may be a good idea to pick up a sample next time I'm in the store! Great review!

I've tried this foundation it's great – but opted with the YSL one instead as it was a better colour match! I think price tags are justifiable if its a foundation that's good to your skin and that you can wear for ages!

Thanks for sending me your link on Twitter :) I've followed you now so can't wait to read more :) I'm over at if you want to take a peek xxx
