Mindfulness | How I Defrazzle

ruby wax frazzled A mindfulness guide for the frazzled? Yes, this sounded right up my street and I couldn’t wait to get stuck into this book. I have looked into mindfulness in the past but only briefly and not in much detail, it’s all about paying more attention to the present moment, your owns thoughts, feelings and the world around you. I’m definitely someone who gets stressed about a lot of different things and can sometimes find it difficult to unwind afterwards. I’ve discovered lots of different tips throughout this book which I’m excited to put into to practise to see if they actually work. Also yes that is a Christmas candle in the background, I still have quite a few left over from the festive period.frazzled book ruby wax“Five hundred years ago no one died of stress: we invented this concept, and now we let it rule us. Ruby Wax shows us how to de-frazzle for good by making simple changes that give us time to breathe, reflect and live in the moment.”

This is very true, we let stress effect us more today than ever and it’s now one of the biggest reasons for sick leave. There’s lots of different sections in this book which you can refer to depending on whether it is personally relevant for you or not. Also there is a six-week mindfulness course which I’ve been testing and it has been all good so far, I’m excited to complete to whole six weeks and compare how I feel afterwards to how I felt before. There are lots of different things which make me frazzled however I’m going to share a few ways how I defrazzle:

  1. Have a cup of tea with chocolate
  2. Watch one of my favourite movies
  3. Clean (where I’m stressed I always clean, for some reason it really helps)
  4. Read a lighthearted book
  5. Enjoy a long bath with my favourite products from Lush
  6. Talk it all out with someone
  7. Listen to music
  8. Cuddle with my puppy
  9. Doodle
  10. Light candles and snuggle up on the sofa

If you’re like me and get stressed then I’d definitely recommend this book, I’m in need of a defrazzle this year and it’s something I’m going to work on over the next few weeks. Let me know what your ways to defrazzle are and if they’re different to mine!

Reading and colour adult books are my current favourite destressers. I try to do a bit of it each before each night as well to help my mind relax and get a good night sleep. I tend to overthink things a lot when I’m laying in bed with no distractions and I’ve found reading or doing some colouring for about 30mins before closing my eyes really really helps.

Looks like such a good book! I like to defrazzle, by lying on my bed either with a book or having a scroll through Instagram!

I’ve been wanting to pick up this book for a while but never gotten around to it. You’ve convinced me that I need it in my life. I love to unwind by listening to music or watching a film all cuddled up with my dog as he gives the best cuddles.

I love the idea and the word ‘defrazzle’ – I get stressed very easily and constantly feel frazzled. The trouble is a lot of my stress comes down to lots to do and not enough time to do it!

I’ve read about mindfulness but I really can’t get my head around it quite yet. I’m starting yoga in the hopes that mindfullness will come along with it. This book might be one for me to try reading.
