I’m writing this on a Sunday evening with the inevitable Monday blues just round the corner, however I want to stop dread the new week, and instead embrace it. Don’t get me wrong, this will be much harder some weeks compared to others, but I’m sharing some tips on how to have a better week regardless.

Plan Your Week
I love using planners and often decorate them with stickers to highlight what I’m most looking forward to or anything that is really important. Planning your week is a great way to make you feel motivated for the upcoming week, and by having a plan or a list of things you want to achieve it can make them feel less daunting. Also don’t forget to jot down when you’re going to have some ‘me time’, especially if you are busy as it will make sure you put the time aside. Even if it’s just to watch the new episode of your favourite TV show on the day it’s released, it’s important to have things to look forward to and to have that ‘down time’.

Be Grateful
I know that this might sound a little cheesy, however it’s important to be grateful and appreciate what you have in your life. It’s definitely easier said than done and some days it will be harder than others, however if you actively try to be more grateful you will notice a difference over time. It also helps you to refocus your mind on the good things in your life, and gratitude is so important and will make an impact on how you feel.

Fuel Your Body with Nutrients
I’ve been spending my evening scoffing down some double chocolate cookies that have not long come out of the oven and I’ve had quite a few treats over the weekend. However I like to start a new week eating nutritious food which makes me feel good about myself, don’t get me wrong I still have a few treats during the week (especially if I’ve had a stressful Monday), but I like to keep these to a minimum then indulge when the weekend arrives.

Get Enough Sleep
This is actually something I say every week and I never get enough, however I’m going to start to make a more conscious effort to get into bed earlier. If you didn’t know I’ve always struggled getting to sleep however I find it easier than I used to, I wrote a blog post about the Scent to Sleep range from Neom that I use which helps with relaxing before bedtime. I also wrote a post on tips on how to get a betters nights sleep, so if you struggle with getting enough sleep like I do then you might want to give them a read.

Move More
I used to be that person that would get back home after work and not move from my sofa all evening, apart from making my way upstairs to my bed. Over time it made me feel groggy so I do try to make the effort to do some exercise or walk my dog in the fields after work, it makes me feel better about myself and I can enjoy relaxing more on the days that I come home and don’t move all evening (I blame Netflix).
These are just a few tips that can help you have a better week, regardless of if it’s going well or not. I do struggle on Mondays and it doesn’t help that I’m not a morning person and never will be (trust me, I’ve tried), but I am going to attempt to feel more positive about the week ahead and what I have to look forward to.
