I don’t know how I did it, but I did…I finished Shaun T’s Insanity Workout, a whole 60 days of craziness!
For those of you that might not know much about this workout, it’s called Insanity for a reason, it’s insane! I bought the deluxe package which has 12 different workouts, you have a workout calendar which tells you which workouts on what days. Now this is a 6 day a week programme and it’s pretty intense, before I started this I read that people who have low fitness levels should not do this workout, I ignored that and went ahead. Note: This is the hardest workout you will ever do! For the whole of the first week I was aching really badly and couldn’t even complete the warm-up without taking a lot of breaks. By the end of month one I could complete the whole warm-up without a single break, and was able to push myself more throughout each workout. Then month 2 came…I felt exactly how I did when I first started the workout (workouts get much harder in the second month), but gradually as the weeks went on it did get easier. What I loved is that you did not need any equipment at all, although I did use an exercise mat for some of the stretches but this is completely optional.
Shaun T himself really helps to motivate you throughout the workouts telling you to “dig deeper” and that “you can do it”. While he encourages you to push yourself, he does add to “know you limits” as you don’t want to injure yourself.
I did not to do this workout to lose weight, but to make my body stronger by building muscle. At the end of the 60 days my legs were more toned, as were my arms and actually had slight definition of my abs which I absolutely loved! Everyone was saying how great I looked, I was so pleased everyone else could notice the results too. I did not follow the nutritional guide that they provide you with, but did try to eat healthier. After each workout I would make myself a peanut butter milkshake to refuel my body after putting it through agony.
For anyone who is interested in doing this workout I highly recommend it as the results are incredible for such a short amount of time. I think this is for all fitness levels because you push yourself to your maximum which you can personally do. I must state that Insanity does recommend for you to see your doctor before starting this workout as it is a massive strain on your body. Also, I would advise finding someone else who wants to start this workout and do it together, if one of you is feeling lazy one day you will have someone who can encourage and motivate you. I did this workout with my boyfriend and we both motivated each other to complete the workout each day and to push ourselves.
If you want to push yourselves to the limit then this is for you, I personally love a challenge which is why I enjoyed it so much!
Have you tried Insanity, let me know :)
