I’m excited to share my The Ordinary Lactic Acid review as over the past few years I’ve been incorporating acids into my skincare routine, with one of my favourites being the Nip + Fab Glycolic Acid Pads which worked amazing on my skin. I used to have these tiny little bumps on my forehead and this was the only product which actually worked and helped me finally get rid of them! I’ve also used a new other glycolic acid skincare products, however wanted to branch out into different acids.

What Are the Benefits?
After hearing rave reviews about The Ordinary I had a look through the different acids they offer and decided on lactic acid as it was available in a weaker concentration which is more suited for sensitive skin. The Ordinary Lactic Acid 5% + HA 2% is designed to even skin tone, reduce pigmentation and textual irregularities by stimulating cell regeneration. It’s also enhanced with hyaluronic acid which strengthens the lipid barrier to improve the skin’s ability to attract and retain moisture, therefore keeping it hydrated. Just a quick warning, as it’s an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) it’s important to wear suncream for up to a week after using this product, as it makes your skin more sensitive to the sun.
How to Use the Ordinary Lactic Acid
At first I wasn’t completely sure how to use lactic acid and noticed people on social media asking if you rinse off this product after using, so I thought it would be helpful to share how I use lactic acid on my skin. Even though you’re meant to apply this once per day, I apply it in the evening twice a week as every day use is too my for my skin. When I first started using lactic acid I mixed it in with my face cream to reduce the strength whilst my skin built tolerance. In regards to how many drops to use, I normally use four drops to cover my whole face. I’ve been using this product for around three months and have seen a visible difference. Skin pigmentation has reduced and my skin tone is more even and soft, also those bumps on my forehead have stayed away! Over time I will built up to using the lactic acid three times a week, however at the moment I’m impressed with the results of only using it twice a week.

If you’re new to skincare acids I’d recommend The Ordinary Lactic Acid 5% + HA 2% as it’s a great beginner product. In case you have sensitive skin too, I’d recommend diluting the product whilst your skin adjusts. Let me know if you found my The Ordinary Lactic Acid review helpful and if you have any other recommendations from The Ordinary.

Thank you for your review. My skin is very sensitive and so much that I never dare to use an acid.
I just purchased this product and wasn’t sure how to use it and how often.
I have a very white, VERY sensitive skin and every new product is challenging for it.
Just like you said, I will try 2/w and see. I hope the results will be good like for you… Let’s wait and see!!

If your skin is sensitive I would use 2 drops in the evening once or twice a week, then as your skin adjusts you can increase how often you use it! Hope you have great results too!
