Exploring the City of Arrecife in Lanzarote

Arrecife Lanzarote Arrecife Lanzarote Travelling and seeing the world is one of the most amazing things, especially when you can share these moments with someone special. When I travel I can truly relax, now by relax I don’t mean lying on the beach all day as I love to explore but the fact that when you are away you don’t have to worry about anything. Arrecife LanzaroteArrecife Lanzarote Lanzarote is one of the Canary Islands off the coast of West Africa and is where I spent many childhood holidays so was lovely to visit again but as an adult. Arrecife is the capital of Lanzarote and is east of the island, it has a beautiful volcanic landscape, blue seas and gorgeous sunshine and heat.Arrecife Lanzarote Arrecife LanzaroteWe visited the Museo de Historia de Arrecife which is a history museum based in a castle on the waterfront. I love visiting museums abroad and this felt like stepping back in time and was so interesting to have an insight into Lanzarote over the past 70 years. The castle itself was founded 1593, a fort was built to create a defence from pirates and the dungeon, guardhouse, outer walls and stairs were added around 70 years later. This castle struggled to defend the island  from pirates so another castle was built a few years later. Arrecife LanzaroteArrecife LanzaroteThe beach here is quiet beautiful and we had a little swim in the sea as it’s a must on holiday, there’s something so relaxing about it. I loved that it wasn’t packed full of tourists or busy, we casually strolled around and could relax on the beach taking in the sounds of the sea.Arrecife LanzaroteI always loved Lanzarote as a child and still love it just as much now, it’s such a beautiful island and is somewhere I will visit again in the future. I would say that Arrecife is the quietest part of Lanzarote that I have visited and where I have learnt the most history about the island. I’d love to know if you’ve been here before and if you love learning about the history of places you travel to as well. As I was on a cruise I only spent a day here as was on the Anthem of the Seas cruise but felt like I got a really good feel for the place and managed to see a lot in that time. I love cruising as there are so many beautiful destinations you can visit, and if there is somewhere that you fall in love with you can always go back another time for a longer break away.

This design is incredible! You most certainly know how to keep a reader amused.
Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Wonderful job.

I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you
    presented it. Too cool!
