I love travelling and exploring new places, it’s one of my favourite things to do! Me and Aaron went on a cruise on the Anthem of the Seas and thought it would be fun to let you know about the places that we visited. I’ve already posted about what we got up to in Vigo in Spain which you can read if you’re interested as well as a post about the cruise ship. I have been to Madeira before and went on the cable car and toboggan, this time thought it would be nice to do something different and look around different areas.
Funchal is the capital city and it’s not just beautiful, there’s also a lot to do and see. There was a large indoor market which we thought we would look around, it had two floors with the first being fish and the second being fruit, flowers and gifts. All of the fruit looked incredible and we picked up some dried fruit as the selection was amazing, there was everything from dried kiwi to dried flowers. It has such amazing ambience and is definitely somewhere worth looking around. Scattered around there are also street markets in which the locals had made different handmade goods which make lovely gifts.
If you want to get up to the top the best way is by cable car as it only takes about 15 minutes and is the most inexpensive way to make your way up. Whilst up there I’d definitely recommend the toboggan as it’s a lot of fun and something different. However if you don’t fancy that there are lots of other things to do such as swimming with dolphins, paragliding, whale-watching and lots of beautiful gardens to wander around. We did have a look around their gardens as Madeira is famous for its natural beauty and is often referred to as the ‘floating garden in the Atlantic”. It was a little cloudy however the sun was out and it was beautiful and warm, don’t let the clouds deceive you!
If you ever visit I recommend a cafe called The Ritz which has the most incredible ice-cream, the Kinder Bueno one was my favourite! It’s quite near to the ocean and pebbled beaches which are lovely to walk along whilst enjoying an ice-cream, especially when it’s hot and sunny. If you want to see more of what I got up to in Madeira you can watch my vlog on my YouTube channel which shows a little more!
