As it’s my anniversary, I find myself reflecting on our wedding day! Questions I’m often asked about my wedding dress are “How many did you try on?” and “How did you find your perfect dress?”
Honestly, I’m not sure what the exact number is as I tried on countless different dresses in various styles, visiting many dress boutiques. I tried on princess dresses, boho, fishtail, strapless, ballgown, everything! At the beginning of my journey I was against a fitted dress, I thought I wanted a princess style dress but once I started trying them on, I realised didn’t like them and felt like a child playing dress up.
Once I started trying on fitted dresses, I knew it was the right style, but it was still very hard to find one that I loved. I didn’t like that a lot of them had padding at the hips, some were too modern when I wanted something more romantic, some were too heavy (we had a hot destination wedding, so needed something lighter), and others I couldn’t pinpoint what wasn’t right, I just didn’t love them.
I came across the wedding dress designer Enzoani and fell in love. However, after trying on on multiple styles, I didn’t fall in love with any of them. Then I came across Odele on their website and found a dress boutique that was happy to order it into their store directly from the designer, as I couldn’t find anywhere within 2 hours that stocked this exact dress.
When I finally tried it on, I knew it was the one. Just when I was starting to feel disheartened, I found myself in the most perfect dress that made me feel incredible. I loved everything from the delicate chantily lace, sheer train, sweetheart neckline, and open v-back. It was perfect in every aspect! I chose the colour Ivory/Sand which meant the top lace was Ivory and the under layer was Sand, making the lace pop and flattering my skin tone.
If I could give one piece of advice, it would be to stay open minded. Many brides like myself start wedding dress shopping with one idea and end up with something completely different. It’s also a good idea to try on different styles, as you might feel differently once wearing them.
